Big Dog of the Day: George the Great Dane, who, at 7 feet in length, is officially the world’s largest dog, is something of a real-life Marmaduke. According to a new book by owner Dave Nasser, George sleeps on his very own queen-sized mattress, has a hatred of swimming pools, and is “a big softie” who loves playing with dolls.
“[S]ince his appearance on [the Oprah Winfrey Show], Giant George has built a following around the world, with his own fan club, website and 70,000 fans on Facebook,” writes Nasser in Giant George. “None of this, of course, means anything to George. He still spends his days doing what he has always liked best: eating, playing and sleeping. Our cherished pet may have become a global celebrity — but really, he’s just one of the family.”

Don’t Drink And Buy Puppies of the Day: West Village pet stores are putting the kibosh on drunk-puppy buying over concerns for the pets’ well-being.
“They come from there and say ‘let’s stop by to see the puppies’,” says Le Petite Puppy proprietor Fernanda Moritz, referring to inebriated patrons who stumble into her shop from one of several nearby bars. Moritz told DNAinfo.com about a Chihuahua she sold to a drunk woman that nearly died in her care before being returned the following day. “We took it to the vet and he found five pills in the dog’s stomach,” she recalled. “It almost overdosed.”
Across the way at Citipups, where a similar policy has been implemented, manager Leandro Jacoby said he too was familiar with the “buyer’s remorse” of intoxicated shoppers. A couple who purchased an English Bull Dog and a Miniature Pinscher for $3,500 returned them the next morning and apologized. “They were just having fun.”
Since then, the store has put in place a sobriety test for its customers. “We have to tell them to come back the next day,” Jacoby says. “[A]nd most of the time they never come back.”

this really makes me mad. dogs are a HUGE responsibility and commitment, idiots.

Is this a real product? If so this is probably the most hilarious/awesome way to decrease your exposure to all that potentially dangerous mobile phone radiation I’ve ever seen.

Hold on, I’ve got 1989 on the other line, Let Love Rule just sold 400,000 on cassette.

One of the producers on a movie I worked on used one of these. It was hilariously awesome.
